The Old California Mining Co. announced via social media that they’ve secured a new location in San Marcos to relocate to. The Gold Rush-themed steakhouse will move into a 6,842-square-foot restaurant at Creekside Market Place, less than a mile from their current location.
The restaurant’s home at the decades-old Old California Restaurant Row has faced uncertainty as new ownership is in the early stages of planning a mixed-use development at the site.
Ownership shared via social media, “As many of you already know the Old California Restaurant Row, a long time staple of the San Marcos community and home to the Old California Mining Co., was sold in January of 2020. After years of speculation, we’ve been informed that the new owners have plans to bulldoze and rebuild the property. Unfortunately for the Old California Mining Company we were not given an option to stay in our current location. After many months of searching and negotiating I’m beyond excited to announce that we have secured a new home at 579 Grand Avenue in the Creekside Market Place off San Marcos Blvd.”
Seeking a fresh start in their newly-secured location, the restaurant will update their brand to take the name “The Mining Company Steakhouse and Saloon.”
Owned by the Ceko Family, the Old California Mining Co. specializes in American classic dishes and homestyle favorites in a rustic and casual space. On the menu you’ll find the Rotisserie-Smoked Turkey Dinner, Slow-Roasted Prime Rib, pasta entrees, and Smokehouse dishes like the Tri-Tip or Baby Back Ribs.
No word yet on when The Mining Company will open doors in their new home but ownership promises guests they can still enjoy meals in their original location until at least Spring 2023. Stay updated by following their Facebook page and visit their website for more information.
