Ezov, a chef-led Mediterranean/Israeli restaurant, will soon be opening in Austin, according to a recent report by Eater. The restaurant will be located at 2708 E Cesar Chavez Street, in the space of the former Pitchfork Pretty.

The restaurant will be run by notable Israeli chef Berty Richter “who is also the executive chef of Fareground stall TLV and San Antonio’s Ladino, which opened in September,” Eater reports.

“Richter said that Ezov will serve ‘seasonal Israeli cuisine,’ drawing specific influence from the Galilee region, which is known for olives, pomegranates, and wine. Ezov will also serve cocktails. The name Ezov is the Hebrew name for hyssop, which is one of the main ingredients in the spice blend za’atar…Once open, Ezov will serve dinner only,” Eater adds.

Readers unfamiliar with Mr. Richter’s background and experience should note that he worked in the New York City culinary scene for almost a decade, cooking at restaurants such as Blue Water Grill and Isabella’s.

What Now Austin reached out to Mr. Richter to inquire further about the restaurant’s culinary profile along with prospective opening dates more specific than the previously announced “spring 2023”, but he was not immediately available for comment.
