A Los Angeles-based brand is expanding its presence to Austin. According to public filings, Brochu Walker is planning to open at 1204 S. Congress Avenue.
The brand is known for its clothes, knitwear, and accessories inspired by European craftsmanship and Californian ease. Its aesthetic is described as “quiet luxury.”
Brochu Walker was founded in 2008 and has been led by French-born designer Karine Dubner, who acquired the label in 2013 and has overseen its expansion into new markets in recent years.
What Now Austin reached out to Brochu Walker representatives to inquire about the opening timeline, but did not receive an answer prior to press time. Permitting records list construction as expected to be completed by February 2027. However, dates listed in public filings are not always definitive.
The Austin location follows earlier plans from Brochu Walker to enter the city. In July, when the brand opened its first international flagship in Seoul, South Korea, it identified Austin as one of its upcoming markets. According to a report from FashionUnited, that Seoul opening came “ahead of additional store openings planned for later this year, including locations in Nashville, Tennessee, and Austin, Texas.”
Austin shoppers have had access to Brochu Walker pieces before through local retailers like Estilo Boutique, which carries the label alongside other womenswear brands. A standalone store would mark the brand’s first dedicated retail presence in the city.
Brochu Walker would join a South Congress corridor that has seen a wave of national retail arrivals in recent months. Wrangler is opening a U.S. flagship a few blocks away at 1612 S. Congress Ave., which What Now Austin previously covered.
