According to public filings, Stoner’s Pizza Joint plans to open a new location at 4136 Rosewood Dr., Suite 120, inside Killeen Dollar Tree Plaza.
Stoner’s Pizza Joint is a fast-casual chain known for its build-your-own pizza and calzone concept, along with wings and sides. The brand also incorporates playful references to cannabis culture into its identity and design.
What Now Austin reached out to franchisee Kyle Brown, who confirmed the project is in its early stages. Brown said he is targeting a February opening, with March as a fallback, pending permits and construction timelines.
“Once construction starts and gets underway, we’ll have more of a solid timeline,” he said.
Kyle and his sister, Michelle, previously ran vape shops together before deciding to move into the restaurant business. After researching several franchise options, they landed on Stoner’s Pizza Joint. “We like their structure and how they treat their franchisees,” Kyle said.
According to Brown, an important reason for choosing Killeen was their connection to the local community. “Copperas Cove, Killeen, this is our home,” he said. “We’re not just some franchise sliding in. We’re from here. We’re part of the community.”
The siblings opened their first location in their hometown of Copperas Cove, and its performance convinced them to expand. Brown told What Now Austin the Rosewood Drive site stood out for a few reasons. The area is growing, and the location’s position also factored in.
“With the growth we see coming around that area, and it’s positioned right there between Killeen and Harker Heights, right on the city limit lines, we just thought it was probably going to be the best spot,” he said.
The brand already has a following in the area through word of mouth. “We get a lot of Killeen customers that come over to Cove, and telling them about it, they’re excited,” he said. “I think all of Killeen’s going to be excited about it once they get to try Stoner’s Pizza if they haven’t already.”
