A beloved Philipsburg restaurant is expanding its Jersey presence later this year. Stone Tavern will be opening at 1288 Route 22 in Bridgewater this fall, reports local media outlet 94.5PST.
The family-friendly establishment will take over the building last inhabited by Houlihan’s. Bridgewater will provide Stone Tavern with its second location. The Phillipsburg restaurant, located at 1304 US-22, celebrated its first year of business in June.
Stone Tavern’s co-owner, Steve Desiderio, spoke with What Now Philadelphia about the Bridgewater restaurant and the eatery’s future plans. Desiderio, originally from Bernardsville, explains that the plan was always to move east. “The building became available and it checked off all the boxes for a Central Jersey location”, he states of the former Houlihan’s.
Desidirio explains that the menu focuses on wood-fired preparations. Guests can expect wood-fired steaks, seafood, and pizza. Customers over 21 can enjoy one of the more than 30 beers Stone Tavern will have on tap, featuring a few local favorites.
The building is currently undergoing the early demolition phases and the owners are awaiting a few permits. However, Desidirio is optimistic that Stone Tavern will be able to open its doors by mid-November.
The Bridgewater location is one of several planned. Desidirio explains that he’s eyeing Morris County and Lehigh Valley locations. “We’re looking to open at least five locations in total.”
Stone Tavern promises an inviting atmosphere for young and old alike. Desidirio says “We’re family friendly. Guests can expect good times, good food, and some light entertainment. We’re also pet friendly.”
