Loard’s Ice Cream, an old-fashioned ice cream and candy shop based in the Bay Area, is reopening its flagship shop in Oakland — and debuting its first location in San Francisco proper.
After being closed for the last three years, the San Francisco Standard reports that the Oakland outpost at 2825 MacArthur Boulevard will start slinging scoops this June.
Later this year, the brand will also open its first San Francisco location at 1601 20th Street, taking over the former Dave’s Food Store space in Potrero Hill.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the ice cream shop chain, Loard’s Ice Cream is known for its old-fashioned-style creamy creation — “The fact of the matter is, we haven’t changed our recipes since our founder Russ conjured them up in 1950, ” Loard’s shares on its website.
At Loard’s shops, patrons can choose from over 40 flavors of ice cream — ranging from classics like cookies n’ cream, chocolate mint, and double dutch, to more experimental options such as blueberry cheesecake, egg nog, and cinnamon toast cereal. There are also sherberts and seasonal options.
What Now San Francisco reached out to the owner, Thomas DeTurk, but he was unable to provide additional information before the time of publication.
