A new Mexican restaurant looks to be opening near the intersection of West Utah Avenue and South Commerce Street in the Arts District. Plans submitted to the Las Vegas Planning Commission show Casa La Lucy opening at 61 W Utah Ave. #121.

A justification letter included with the submitted documents says will open in a 13.2’x35’ space with a maximum capacity of 98 people, employing “one chef, one waiter, one cashier.”

The letter also cites a lack of authentic Mexican restaurants in the Arts District as a source of opportunity for Casa La Lucy and says it expects to cater to both tourists and locals. The submitted documents request a special use permit to serve alcohol on the premises. Further details on the menu are not yet available.

What Now reached out to owner Maria Diaz on Thursday to inquire about plans for the opening. Diaz was not immediately available to discuss Casa La Lucy.

Opening in the West Utah Avenue location, Casa La Lucy would join a food and beverage community that includes Seven:45, Horse Trailer Hideout, Able Baker Brewing, and more.
