Oxford Cafe, a family-owned fast casual restaurant, is opening a second location in the Financial District. The original Oxford Cafe opened in 1995. For 25 years the fast-casual brand flourished across the city with many locations. The coronavirus pandemic prompted the Xenopoulos family, who own the chain, to shutter nearly all of their stores. Recently, brothers Alex and Evan Xenopoulos decided to revive the brand.
What Now NY connected with Alex Xenopoulos to learn more about this new location.
“Our family has been in the business for nearly 50 years,” said Xenopoulos. “Oxford Café is a brand that began with my father, and we’ve been keeping it running ever since.”
In addition to Oxford Cafe, the Xenopoulos family is also associated with The Mill and Xeno’s Pizza.
“Our bread and butter is breakfast and lunch. We seek to cater to everybody in our restaurants and want to make sure there’s something for you whether you wear a hard hat to work or a suit. We excel in quality service, cleanliness and using high-quality ingredients. Everything we make is made-to-order— nothing is commissary-made or processed.”
Traded NY reported that Oxford Cafe signed a lease for a 2,060 square-foot space at 86 Broad Street. Xenopoulos noted that the currently open location in Midtown East has a lot of wood and millwork throughout, and that the family plans to replicate that with this second location.
“The financial district has changed a lot in the past 20 years,” Xenopoulos explained. “We are confident this area will become more robust as the years pass by, especially as offices continue to adapt post-pandemic. We think we are entering this market on an upswing. We’re excited to be a part of a dynamic area with such a diverse community.”
The new Oxford Cafe plans to open sometime in August.
