Blue Bowl, known as the original create-your-own superfood cafe, is preparing to open a new location in Oceanside at 1940 S. Freeman St.
The company’s 11th location will be the first in San Diego, set to be a part of The Freeman Collective, a social destination comprised of some of the finest and most unique food, beverage, and shopping options in town. Founder Teague Savitch tells What Now San Diego that this location does not have an opening date. Blue Bowl has eight locations in Southern California, and Savitch says two more are planned to open before the Oceanside site. The Freeman Collective is now 100% leased out.
Other co-tenants at this dining destination include HomeState, Corner Pizza, Artifex Brewery, Blackmarket Bakery, Tanner’s Prime Burgers, and Little Fox. This will be an excellent location for the company’s San Diego debut, considering The Freeman Collective is two iconic buildings that house seven incredible brands a mere 483 steps from the Pacific Ocean. Sitting in such a great spot will attract plenty of business with immense foot traffic from nearby businesses.
When Blue Bowl makes its debut, customers can expect delicious acai bowls that are 100% customizable. The brand promises high-quality ingredients and generous portions to all its bowls, and the company will never upcharge for additional toppings. The customization process starts by choosing a base; common choices include acai, pitaya, and matcha, followed by additional toppings, such as granola options, fresh fruit, nut butter, sweeteners, and more. Blue Bowl also takes pride in working with food allergies by posting a list of common potential allergens in its bases and granola while accommodating any customers in person by asking for assistance.
