Dallas-based restauranteur Joe Palladino is heading back to New York City, with plans to open Palladino’s Steak & Seafood in the spring.
The spot will take over the space that belonged to Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse at 23 Vanderbilt Avenue in Grand Central Terminal.
“I was thrilled to be able to get this space — it’s such an iconic spot,” Palladino told What Now New York. “It’s such a great opportunity to open up in Grand Central Terminal.”
The Rockwell Group is heading up the design for the steakhouse, which has been approved to include a four-season, fully-enclosed patio with a bar. Palladino told What Now New York that the menu is still in the developmental stages, so he cannot share many details at this time. However, he did share that customers can expect quality steak cuts, sushi and a variety of other food options designed to fit a diverse audience. The culinary team is helmed by veteran executive chef Sam Hazen.
“Between the tourists and the locals, I want to be able to reach a variety of different palates,” Palladino said.
Palladino has a history of several concepts in Texas, including Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse and pizza wine bar Coal Vines. Palladino said he is looking forward to returning to his home city to bring a new concept for both tourists and locals to enjoy.
“I’m a born and raised New Yorker, born and raised in the Bronx,” he said. “I was also a police officer in New York, so all my family is in New York. I had an opportunity to come back home and do something on a very grand scale.”
Palladino is targeting a May opening, though it will be dependent on buildout.
“I intend to bring a very special steakhouse to the city, one that the locals can embrace,” Palladino said. “They’re going to receive a good experience — that’s important to me.”
