Popular boba tea chain ZERO& is planning to open its first Berkeley outpost.
According to a recent construction permit application filed with the city, the shop is coming to 2580 Bancroft Way — taking over a ground-floor spot at The Standard, a student housing complex near the Berkeley campus.
Founder and CEO Toby Sun tells What Now San Francisco that the interior finish out of the 1760-square-foot space will begin soon and ZERO& Berkeley is slated to open this fall.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the company, ZERO& is known for upgrading traditional tea and boba by using fresh ingredients and fruit, avoiding artificial flavors, and offering a zero-calorie sweetener option.
In addition to beverages, the business partners with Hanabi to offer desserts and baked goods such as mini box cakes, croissants, and Korean garlic bread.
The upcoming Berkeley outpost will join ten existing ZERO& locations throughout the Bay Area, as well as another opening on Filmore Street next week, one headed to Santa Clara in June, and another coming to the intersection of Polk and Union Street in July.
