Fresh Food Royalty, Smoothie King adding new spot at 655 W Illinois Avenue in Dallas, according to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. 

Smoothie King was founded in 1973 by Steve Kuhnau in Kenner, Louisiana, initially as a small health food store that eventually evolved into the first smoothie bar of its kind. 

The concept of blending fruit, nutrients, and protein was revolutionary at the time and aimed at providing a healthier alternative to sugary snacks and sodas. By 1989, the company had expanded through franchising, becoming a global leader in the smoothie industry.
