Cork and Candles, an incoming pour-your-own candle shop at King of Prussia Town Center, will give friends and family a great way to relax and be creative while spending quality time together. That’s why their company’s tagline is “Where Friends Gather.” Cork and Candles will open next to Founding Farmers, in Suite 150 at 255 Main St. in March.
Guests at Cork and Candles can choose from 75 clean-burning fragrances to create hand-poured candles. Staff will help you pick scents that can be paired perfectly for a unique candle creation. While you are soothed by smells and the relaxing candle pouring process, you can snack on a charcuterie board that will be custom paired with the wine, beer, or champagne you bring to share with your party.
“We think this concept goes well together because it offers our guests the opportunity to explore their creative side, indulge in their sense of smell and taste, and foster memories that we believe will last a lifetime. Importantly, we are excited to extend this sense of taste beyond wine and alcohol. We know wine isn’t for everyone, myself included, and we look forward to offering luxury hot teas and other fun drinks that include our guests who prefer not to drink alcohol,” owner Dave Straub told What Now Philadelphia.
Cork and Candles will serve coffee, kombucha, organic tea, and their own brand of loose tea. The store will also sell homemade soaps, bath bombs, lotions, hair products, wax melts, and candles.
“As a family, we’ve owned a number of small businesses over the years, including a Bruster’s Real Ice Cream in Limerick, PA. My wife, Sheelagh, has run our Bruster’s for the past 15 years, and we love being a place where our local community can gather,” Straub said. “When I was much younger, I started a small candle business. I am excited to draw on my past experience with candles and my family’s familiarity with building community-based businesses to open Cork and Candles this spring in the KoP Town Center.”
Straub said he hopes his new business will offer a way for the community to socialize and reconnect after the isolating effects of COVID.
“I’d like to think that we’re social creatures, and COVID has damaged that,” Straub said. “This is a way for people to come together and socialize and walk away with something unique. As COVID disappears, we hope people will flock to our location.”
Cork and Candles will be open seven days a week with hours in the range of 11 a.m. to 9 or 10 p.m. Follow them on Instagram @cork_and_candles for updates. Those who are looking to join the Cork and Candles team can click here.
