Calling all early risers and night owls, something is brewing in Wildwood. A new 24-hour cafe, inspired by owner Claudia Vazquez’s roots, is coming soon.

Lighthouse Kitchen and Cafe will open at 3109 Pacific Ave.

“A lighthouse guides you in the middle of the night. Since our goal is to be open 24/7, we wanted to be like a lighthouse that people can be guided to, to find a nice place, warm meal and have some coffee,” general manager Joseph Ferrara told What Now Philadelphia.

The interior is designed Victorian style, creating a welcoming atmosphere with the coffee program as the focal point.

“The owner is from Mexico. When she first got to the United States, the dream was always to open a cafe using the coffee beans from her family’s farm,” he said.

Lighthouse Kitchen and Cafe will grind and brew all of its coffee in-house.

“What makes it so unique is the height and region of Mexico in which it’s grown. The region is Chiapas. The height of where the coffee trees are at and the climate actually change the taste of the coffee itself. The coffee is hard to actually get, so we’re excited to be able to share with our customers,” Ferrara said.

In addition to its acclaimed coffee, the cafe will serve all-day breakfast and brunch, with dinner service beginning later in the afternoon.

Menu highlights include breakfast bowls, breakfast burritos, avocado toast, French toast, pancakes and South Jersey pork roll, along with a family dish called a “machete.” A machete is a long, narrow quesadilla filled with a choice of meat and Oaxaca cheese.

“That’s our anchor item. We’ll have three different sizes: a mini machete, regular machete and a mega machete which is about 12 to 14 inches and feeds up to four. It’s quite large, it almost takes up the full table. I think people are going to want to order and try because it’s definitely an experience,” he said

Ferrara looks forward to bringing a new experience to the shore town.

“Our goal is to beautify the community and just be a positive light for Wildwood. I’m excited to add something different that people will be able to enjoy, something that will make them go home and be like, ‘Wow! I would go back!’ Amazing food on top of great customer service is going to be our key success,” he said.

The team is finalizing the space and plans to open Lighthouse Kitchen and Cafe in the next couple of weeks.
