A new restaurant is coming to Manasquan, just steps from the shore.

Coastal Canteen, a new concept from the Jersey Shore Restaurant Group, will open at 142 Main Street.

The restaurant joins the group’s portfolio, which includes Harpoon Willy’s, Half Moon Point and Red Agave Restaurant & Tequila Bar.

The interior will transport guests to the coast with a light, elegant design featuring soft blue tones and wood accents. The space will also showcase artwork by lifelong Jersey Shore local David Turton, whose pieces capture the beauty of the area’s coastal towns, according to an Instagram post.

Chef Andre Barbero will lead the culinary program, marking a full-circle moment in his career. He got his start bussing tables at Harpoon Willy’s at just 15 years old and, after attending culinary school, went on to help open Half Moon Point.

The menu will feature “bright, vibrant dishes” with coastal flair and locally sourced ingredients, including shareables, handhelds, entrees and a raw bar.

Menu highlights include the Coastal Canteen burger topped with mushroom jam, house aioli and aged cheddar; rock shrimp bucatini with garlic shallot confit, green onion and breadcrumbs; and seared scallops with duck fat, chicken broth, blistered pearl onions, tomatoes and basil. The restaurant will also source clams, fluke and lobster from Atlantic Offshore Fishery.

The coastal theme extends beyond the food. The cocktail menu features signature drinks like the “Canteen Cooler,” made with vodka, watermelon, fresh lime, basil and club soda, and the “Hightide Cooler,” crafted with gin, cucumber, mint, lemon, elderflower and tonic.

An official opening date has not yet been announced, but an Instagram post read, “We’re almost there and we can’t wait to have you in.”

Once open, the kitchen hours are 4 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Bar hours are 4 p.m. to late Sunday through Thursday and 4 p.m. to late Friday and Saturday.

Visit the Coastal Canteen website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates.
