Co-owners and founders Evan Seplow and Pam Seplow will open The Sandwich Corner Market in Francisville at 1945 Poplar Street. The location is at the corner of 20th and Poplar. Originally, the opening was scheduled for spring, but, as co-owner Pam Seplow stated to What Now Philadelphia via an emailed statement, the restaurant had experienced a setback that put the scheduled opening off for longer than expected. The projected opening date will now be in happening in early summer.

What Now Philadelphia got a preview of the menu and it looks delicious. You will find hot market sandwiches, like the Tony, which is shredded chicken, cheddar, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, and garlic spinach, and cold market sandwiches like the Italian prosciutto made with sharp provolone, lemon dressed arugula, tomato, roasted peppers, and a house spice blend. There will be bagel, egg, and veggie sandwiches, melts, salads, and peanut butter sandwiches. The most intriguing sandwiches to What Now Philadelphia are the Continental egg sandwich which is made with brie, candied jalapenos, and strawberry jam, and the Doctorate peanut butter made with peanut butter, bacon, and habanero mango jam.

Sandwich Corner Market will operate without a liquor license or espresso machine, but you can find drip coffee, cold brew coffee, Vietnamese style coffee, housemade iced tea, lemonade, and limeade. As a special treat, the Seplows will include egg creams on the menu. You will also find house-made “sweet treats” daily for those with a sweet tooth.

The difference at Sandwich Corner Market is that the chef and the staff will do everything they can to accommodate dietary requests and personal preferences when preparing food for the customers as Chef Seplow told What Now Philadelphia during a phone interview. The market will also have a prepared food case with items like lasagna, potato salad, and chicken salad made fresh daily. Chef Evan Seplow previously worked as a sous chef at White Dog Cafe.

The Seplows said to What Now Philadelphia that they intend to curate the menu in a way that reflects the tastes of the neighborhood as well. This market is being crafted with a lot of heart and as their website says, “Every neighborhood needs one.” Sandwich Corner Market will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.
