The Highland Glenside Restaurant and Bar to Bring American Fusion Cuisine to Glenside this Fall

The restaurant will take over the space vacated by Bernie’s Pub.

Restaurateur Dan Katz is bringing a fresh dining experience to Glenside this fall. The Highland Glenside Restaurant & Bar will be taking over the site last inhabited by Bernie’s Pub, located at 391 Highland Avenue.

Owner Katz spoke with What Now Philadelphia about opening the Highland Glenside Restaurant & Bar in his native Glenside, explaining that he chose the location because “It’s right in our hometown. We’ve been eyeing this location for almost a year now.”

Katz states that the building does not require any major structural changes and is currently undergoing cosmetic renovations. Additionally, the establishment is in the process of finalizing its liquor license. Katz is hopeful that the Highland Glenside will be ready to open its doors by early autumn.

Highland Glenside will provide customers with a modern fusion American dining experience, focused on high-quality home-made foods. Highland Glenside’s team is currently finalizing the menu. Katz adds that the restaurant will offer an excellent happy hour.

The eatery will also offer outdoor seating around a fire pit.

Katz and his crew are developing a warm and welcoming space that nourishes visitors’ sense of community as well as sating their hunger. In addition to the daily menu, live music,weekend brunches and happy hour deals, Highland Glenside will hold weekend food truck events, including Eagles tailgates during the football season. 

Katz also runs the West Avenue Grille and Pizza Wheel, both located in Jenkintown. He is enthusiastic about adding another restaurant to his arsenal, stating “people are very excited about the Highland-it’s quite overwhelming and amazing.”
