A popular hospitality group is bringing delicious Italian-American cuisine and casual-cool atmosphere to Wayne. Fearless Restaurants is preparing to open a second location of its latest concept, Testa Rossa, later this year, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Sydney Grims, Fearless Restaurants’ director of development, spoke with What Now Philadelphia about bringing Testa Rossa to 523 West Lancaster Avenue. She explains that the eatery will fill a void in Wayne’s dining scene. “We decided to go with this concept because we always consider the space and what is available in that market.” She states. “The whole concept behind Testa Rossa is fun. You’ll find mama’s meatballs and red sauce. There’s really no Italian-American food option in Wayne.”
Testa Rossa is an adaptable concept that will facilitate a variety of occasions. Grims states “What we love about White Dog is it can be used for many different reasons, for its approachability and we want that for Testa Rossa. The whole vibe is very high energy and fun-we don’t want it to be taken seriously. With our design we’re taking some more risks-you’ll feel more of a youthful vibe, it will be a bit more on trend and have high energy.”
Fearless Restaurants has brought on Kate Rohrer from Rohe Creative to lend the eatery a distinctive, playful flair. “Kate’s designed tons of restaurants in the area.” Grims states. “We designed Louie Louie in 2018 together. She’s really imaginative and not afraid to take risks. ‘Testa Rosa’ is the name of the famous Ferrari-it means ‘redhead’ in Italian. Kate uses different aspects of the car to decorate the space. There is a risk factor in the boldness of this design. It will be a lot more fresh.”
Speaking of the restaurant’s unique approach to design, Grims emphasizes that while certain elements may be inspired by the popular Italian vehicle Testa Rossa is named after, it will not be a car-themed establishment.
Wayne foodies will need to wait a little longer before savoring the restaurant’s cuisine. Fearless has signed the lease and is currently designing the space. Grims states that the hospitality group is hoping to open in May or June of this year.
