A Staten Island favorite is preparing to bring quality Mexican cuisine to Ledgewood. Chef Peter Botros and the Bread & Butter Hospitality group are opening a new location of Sofia’s Taqueria in the area, reports local media outlet Asbury Park Press.
The restaurant will be opening at 1103 US-46 in the former home of TGI Fridays. An opening date is not currently available for the eatery, however a social media post says it is “coming soon”. Sofia’s currently has one other New Jersey location open and operational, in Old Bridge, with another set to open in Toms River this December.
The concept opened its first location on Staten Island in 2019. The chain has expanded to include five locations between New York and New Jersey. Sofia’s Taqueria has won the Diners’ Choice award multiple times.
The restaurant is particularly renowned for its signature guacamole. The dip comes in flavors including pineapple, fire roasted corn, strawberry-cucumber, and mango-habanero. Sofia’s menu also features empanadas, quesadillas, burritos, fajitas, and tacos. The drink list includes an impressive array of cocktails, margaritas, and mojitos.
