Central Jersey may soon get a taste of the chicken that’s taking the country by storm. Raising Cane’s, known for its pared down menu of poultry made to perfection, has submitted an application to open a new location in Watchung, reports Patch.

The beloved chain is hoping to move into the Blue Star Shopping Center. Raising Cane’s proposal calls for the restaurant to move onto the Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet pad site, located at 1701 US Highway 22. The chicken magnate wants to erect a new 3,760 square foot building on the lot, complete with a 2 lane drive-thru.

Raising Cane’s, founded in Louisiana in 1996, has earned an ardent fan following through its simple but effective menu. Customers can choose between chicken tenders or a chicken sandwich, made fresh to order. Sides include Texas Toast, crinkle cut fries, and coleslaw. Self-proclaimed Cainiacs are particularly passionate about the chain’s signature secret sauce.

Raising Cane’s now has more than 700 locations across the United States, only four of which are in New Jersey.
