Hollywood favorite The Taco Spot closed in the summer of 2021, but Taco Spot fans will be able to enjoy many of their favorite dishes once more. The restaurateur family behind The Taco Spot will soon make their culinary comeback with a new project, Mexican seafood restaurant The Mermaid Queen.
“We’re moving a little bit up north on the boardwalk,” Mermaid Queen social media manager Luc Bianca told What Now on Thursday. “We’ll have a bar, and indoor and outdoor sitdown areas, right on the Hollywood Boardwalk, twenty feet from the beach.”
Bianca says the restaurant will have both a streamlined, take-out-friendly menu outside and a slightly more formal sitdown menu inside that will primarily feature family-style entrees.
“Our outside area is going to have a similar menu to The Taco Spot,” Bianca said. “It’ll have tacos, burritos, and other signature dishes, like the shrimp tacos and the fish tacos everyone was crazy about. Another thing coming back is the pineapple drinks with the iconic little shot and umbrella.”
The Mermaid Queen will be a true family business, with Luc’s mother Jenny Bianca running the kitchen, and their father and brother keeping the bar and the restaurant floor running smoothly. Of course, its Jenny—Mom—who Luc says is the source of the brand’s secret recipes, particularly the sauces and condiments that make the food pop.
“That’s what really sets us apart,” Bianca said. “We provide this amazing flavor.”
