Former NBA star Shaq’s Las Vegas-based chain Big Chicken is opening a third location at the Footprint Center at 201 E Jefferson Street in Phoenix, according to Mouth By Southwest.

With a first location at Arizona State University’s Mullett Arena and a second downtown Gilbert storefront, the chain’s local owner is franchisee Steve Christensen. Aside from this franchise, the restaurant has locations in California, Illinois, Montana, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington.

According to the company’s website, “Founded in 2018, Big Chicken is backed by a dream team of partners; JRS Hospitality, an accomplished Las Vegas-based ownership group; Authentic Brands Group, a multi-national, multi-billion-dollar brand development, marketing and entertainment company; and Hall of Fame basketball star Shaquille O’Neal. Big Chicken fuses O’Neal’s home-cooked childhood favorites with today’s trending flavors. From crispy chicken sandwiches and tenders to Cheez-It® crusted mac n’ cheese and hand-crafted ice cream shakes, each menu item tells a story all while offering guests an inside look into the life and personality of Shaquille O’Neal.”

They also described their menu as the following: “With taste at the forefront, Big Chicken delivers a menu that fuses home-cooked childhood favorites with bold new flavors. Come try our signature dish Lucille’s Mac ‘n’ Cheese, just the way mom made it – but with a crispy Cheez-It® crust! Big Chicken aims to create a fun family haven that both comforts and delights.”

There are currently no details out about an opening date, and Christensen did not immediately reply to What Now Phoenix‘s request for comment.
