Massive indoor-outdoor restaurant complexes are becoming ‘a thing’ and Lafayette is poised to add such a concept in a few weeks’ time.

Located at 116 Bertrand Dr., The Yard Goat will be a restaurant and beer garden with 11,000 square feet of patio space. A large overhead trellis system will support large TVs for watching sports, rotating fans for hot weather, and heaters for cool weather. There will also be fire pits and private spaces for events.

The concept comes from restauranteurs Herb Dyer and Rusty White, who already operate a similar concept called The Wrong Iron in New Orleans. That restaurant is a popular spot for watching New Orleans Saints and LSU games. There’s also regular live music, DJs, and food pop-ups. Although the massive patio space is the big draw for this concept, The Yard Goat will also have a large indoor space for inclement weather, along with covered patio space. Of course, a beer garden must have beer. The Yard Goat have a massive draft system serving up 50 different beers. The draft system will also be used to serve cocktails and wines. Bottled beers, bottled wine, and frozen drinks will also be available. In addition to having its own kitchen, The Yard Goat will also host regular crawfish boils and food trucks. The Wrong Iron in New Orleans is known for being dog-friendly, and we expect The Yard Goat to follow suit. However, we do recommend checking with the restaurant before bringing your furry friend.
