In August, Baton Rouge restauranteur Wayne Stabiler bequeathed his restaurant group to his management team, and the new-look Wayne Stabiler Companies is set to make its first expansion by bringing a Sammy’s Grill location back to Ascension Parish, at 37306 Perkins Rd. in Prairieville.

The Baton Rouge restaurant group also includes Stab’s Prime Steak and Seafood, Stab’s Steak and Seafood, and two locations of The Little Village. Kevin Kimball is one of the ownership partners, and he recently told What Now New Orleans that bringing Sammy’s back to the parish is just the first step.

“After getting our heads and hands around just a generous gift, we wanted to solidify the things we had going for us, and then start growing some of the brands,” Kimball said. “This opportunity to open a new Sammy’s Grill worked out well for us. A couple of us live in Ascension Parish and we wanted to have a presence close to home.”

He added that the menu for the new Sammy’s Grill will look quite familiar to fans of the previous locations. Expect to see burgers, beers, Louisiana classics, and crawfish when they are in season. An opening date is set for January 2024.

“People in the parish will find a lot of things that they are very familiar with, and I think they’ll be grateful to have them back in their community,” Kimball said. He added that if all goes well with the new Sammy’s location, the sky’s the limit.

“If we do our jobs and this new location is a great success,” Kimball said, “we would end up continuing to grow the brand. That’s what we would love to do.”
