Kinfolk, the popular weekend breakfast pop-up, is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar in Harbor Town, located at 111 Harbor Town Square.

The concept began as a vendor at the now-closed Puck Food Hall before relaunching in February 2022 at Comeback Coffee. Chef and owner Cole Jeanes said this would be “version 3.0 of Kinfolk,” according to Memphis Commercial Appeal. When the 1,500-square-foot restaurant opens this summer, customers can expect an upscale Waffle House with an outdoor patio. Kinfolk also plans to introduce more menu items that will be Southern-inspired but with some global influences.

Jeanes confirms with What Now Memphis that help plans to open the new sit-down restaurant in mid-August 2023. To help with this accomplishment, Jeanes has brought in some additional help with the project. Natalie Lieberman of Collect + Curate Studio and Rowdy Department owner Kyle Taylor have both offered to help design the space. While this space won’t open for another few months, customers can still try Kinfolk at its weekly pop-ups at Comeback Coffee, which will continue to run until at least July.

Some classics, such as Jeanes’ famous biscuit sandwich, will remain on the menu. The restaurant will offer milk bread and brioche buns on its breakfast sandwiches. Jeanes also plans to add more breakfast bowls, lunch options, and a patty melt (instead of the smash burger, which will not be on the menu). The new brick-and-mortar, which includes a bar in its current layout, will also offer limited bar service, including a couple of Southern beers and a handful of cocktails, as well as drip coffee and cold brew.
