According to a recent tweet from B Talent, NYC-based Chip City Cookies will be opening four new locations in the Chicago area.

A representative of Chip City Cookies was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Chicago’s request.

While an official opening date for the four new locations has yet to be disclosed, according to the company website, the four locations will reside in Lake View, Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, and Wicker Park.

Chip City Cookies describes its history on the company website “Born in Astoria, Queens in July 2017, Chip City began as a hobby between two childhood friends as they sought to recreate the simple taste of their childhood.”

“What began as a fun challenge to see who could create the best cookie turned into the Chip City we know and love today. We have 45 classic flavors that rotate every week. All the flavors were hand-crafted and created to be as ooey and gooey as possible to satisfy your tastebuds.”

A recent Business Insider article states, “The cookie chain, known for its unique and seasonal flavors from peanut butter and jelly to pumpkin spice latte, was founded in 2017 by Peter Phillips and Teddy Gailas. The founders had humble expectations for the business. “Our original business plan was to sell 100 cookies daily,” CEO Phillips told The Food Institute. “We got some good press, and things really took off from there.”

“Then in 2022, Shake Shack founder Danny Meyer and his investment firm, Enlightened Hospitality Investments, poured $10 million into Chip City to help the company open more locations. “At EHI, we are always looking for businesses that have created craveable products and have earned a tribe-like following,” Meyer said in a press release.”

“Chip City currently has 23 locations, and Phillips told Nation’s Restaurant News that the company plans to have 40 locations by the end of the year. Most of the chain’s locations are in the tri-state area, with 14 stores in three boroughs of New York City, four on Long Island, three in New Jersey, and one in Connecticut.”
