Thanksgiving Eve will be Bavarian Grill‘s last day at 221 Parker Rd. The German restaurant will shut its doors at Ruisseau Village on Nov. 24 to relocate to a new independent location at 3425 Premier Dr. The space was previously home to a Golden Corral.

Frequent guests will be happy to know that the new space is just a two minute drive from where they’re used to going. The standalone building, however, will be larger and include restaurant and biergarten sides.

Owner Juergen Mahneke told Community Impact that he hopes to reopen in the new space the week of Dec. 7. Besides the space, not much else is changing. The restaurant’s collection of toy trains and memorabilia will all be moved to the new location and the menu, which changes daily, will remain the same.

Named after the German state of Bavaria, Bavarian Grill has been serving up authentic Southern German food, bier, wein, Schnapps, and fun from Parker Rd since 1993. The restaurant has received numerous accolades like being voted “Best German Restaurant in America” by Guide Pick, named highest rated German restaurant in Texas by the ZAGAT Survey for 15 consecutive years, and voted #1 best ethnic food Plano Star Courier’s Readers’ Choice Award.

Favorite dishes include baked mushroom caps stuffed with Bratwurst; alderwood smoked, cured thin sliced salmon; Jägerschnitzel with mushroom-wine sauce; and Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce. The restaurant also features a full bar with over 80 different German beers and 20 German wines.
