A new brewpub is being planned for Dallas from a long-time home brewer and certified beer judge.
Owner Dean Weaver will bring Autonomous Society Brewpub to the city’s Cedars District. CultureMap Dallas reports that it will be located at 1928 S Akard St in a building that was formerly residential and is currently undergoing renovations. It is expected to open in February 2022.
While this will be Weaver’s first brewpub, he has plenty of brewing experience and beer knowledge.
He first started home brewing in 1993 after being given a subscription to Beer Across America. The service delivered different craft beers every month, but after a few months he got a letter saying it was illegal. So, Weaver decided to get a kit and began making his own.
In 2018, he opened a small brewery called Deanitude where he made mostly European-inspired beers. Autonomous is an extension of that brewery and will be a place where beer fans can enjoy a variety of beers from craft brewers.
“We’ll feature Deanitude beer, but we’ll also carry local independents,” Weaver told CultureMap. “It’ll be a place with food, beverages, and sports TV.”
Centered around a 21-foot long bar, Autonomous will feature 24 taps for beer, seltzers, ciders, wine, and beer. There will also be a small area to prepare light bites such as sandwiches, pretzels, and pizza.
Weaver, who has served in the U.S. Army and also has over 30 years of experience in the film and video industry, is currently seeking Accredited Equity Partners for the brewpub. Those interested can fill out a form here.
