I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! And not just any ice cream. The creatively tasty flavors of Tongue in Cheek Ice Cream to be exact.

The popular Richardson-based ice cream shop is out to satisfy even more screams for ice cream with plans to expand with a second location in Plano in 2022. The new shop will be located at 3505 E Park Blvd in suite 300.

Founded and owned by retired Richardson firefighter, Brett Smith, Tongue in Cheek is known for its creative concoctions such as Hatch Pepper Butter Pecan and Cranberry Orange Gingerbread Cheesecake. Of course, there are the classics – chocolate, strawberry, vanilla. But who’s getting that every time when Chocolate Whiskey Cake is staring you down? I mean.

An exact date for the new Plano shop has yet to be announced, but it is expected to open sometime in 2022.

“It will open somewhere between now and the end of 2022,” Smith told The Dallas Morning News. “Right now the supply chain is so difficult. I’m shooting for March.”

Opened in 2019, Tongue in Cheek Ice Cream really began to take off after the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020. Considering how negatively the restaurant and hospitality industry was and continues to be impacted, the success seems like a miracle, but Smith believes people showed up because they wanted some sense of normalcy and joy. And nothing brings that better than ice cream created with passion and love.

Tongue in Cheek’s Richardson location is currently open at 526 W Arapho Rd.
