Dave’s Hot Chicken will soon serve up its Nashville-style hot chicken at a second location in Plano.
The forthcoming restaurant will open at 1709 Preston Rd, suite A, per a Community Impact report. The location is a part of Preston Shepard Place, a shopping center that includes a drive-thru Starbucks. An exact opening date has not yet been announced, but it is expected to open later this year.
Launched in 2017 as a parking lot pop-up in East Hollywood, Dave’s Hot Chicken is a result of four friends – Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy and Gary Rubenyan – who were determined to create the “perfect hot chicken.” And fans of the brand will be the first to tell you that create it they did. Since then, the brand has exploded in popularity, with folks waiting for an hour in line to try the chicken and franchise rights being sold to open more than 400 restaurant location across the States.
Cue Drizzy: Started from the bottom, now we’re here.
For real though, Dave’s Hot Chicken has a fan in the hip-hop star. In September 2021, Drake bought a minority stake in the brand, joining other celebrities like actor Samuel L. Jackson.
“I tried the food and it was amazing. After meeting the founders and hearing their story, I jumped at the opportunity to invest,” Drake said in a statement at the time.
With a simple menu that keeps the chicken the star, it gets its namesake heat from Dave’s own mix of spices ranging from “mild” to “reaper.” Dave’s offers its hot chicken as tenders served with fries, sliced bread, pickles and a side of Dave’s sauce. Or you can get those tenders as a slider with kale slaw.
The seven heat levels are: no spice, lite mild, mild, medium, hot, extra hot and reaper. And if you lean to the latter, there’s chocolate, strawberry or vanilla milkshakes made with real ice cream to cool your mouth down.
With several locations across the country, Texas spots (so far!) for Dave’s Hot Chicken include Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Missouri City and Plano, of course. The brand’s first Plano location is open at 8315 Preston Rd, suite 400.
