La Piazza Ristorante Italiano is coming to downtown Sherman as part of the city’s mission to reinvigorate historic downtown buildings. Owner Tracey Downtain confirmed with What Now Dallas that the concept is in the works with the goal of a November open.

In a recent article from KXII, David Downtain explained the translation of the name to “the square”, which is fitting to its new location. In the article he teased “fresh made, handmade sauces, ingredients, and fresh baked bread from that morning.”

The couple believes the concept will fill a void in the area for quality Italian cuisine. Renovations of the building come from a $50,000 grant from the city — the sixth business to receive a grant from the city for renovations of old downtown buildings.

Though La Piazza does not yet have a website or socials to follow for updates, locals can look to Urban Sherman on Facebook for ongoing news about the city’s revitalization project.
