Esteemed restaurateur Philip Camino of Camino Industries will bring washoku (traditional Japanese cuisine) to Brentwood with a Michelin-level Japanese restaurant.

Imari will settle into 13050 San Vicente Boulevard, which had formerly housed Nagao Sushi for 22 years. Staying true to washoku tradition, Imari will use Southern California’s local abundance of produce and seafood for the finest and freshest ingredients. The restaurant will use Japanese salt and water from a special water system that recreates the pH and salinity found in Japan’s water. Imari’s culinary program will be headed by Michelin-starred Shibumi Chef David Schlosser and New York City Shoji Chef Derek Wilcox.

“The core ethos of Imari is authenticity. Chefs Derek Wilcox and David Schlosser have impeccable training at some of Japans most celebrated Michelin-rated restaurants, and their extensive knowledge of Japanese cuisine brings something truly unique to Brentwood,” Camino said in a press release. “We’re thrilled for our guests to experience the bento boxes, as well as the full menu and exquisite omakase dining experiences to come. Our world-class team here at Camino Industries are very excited to deliver this truly unique Japanese concept to Los Angeles.”

Although Imari will launch its official full dine-in opening on July 16th, the restaurant will serve a limited menu of bento boxes for pick-up at the restaurant or delivery via Tock beginning this Friday, June 11th from 5-8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 5-9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Delivery options will expand to Postmates, DoorDash, Grubhub, and Uber Eats starting Monday, June 14th.

For the sashimi bento boxes, Imari will import fresh seasonal seafood from Japan. The three sashimi bento boxes will include Shago Sho (salmon, albacore, New Zealand tai sea bream, cucumber, takuan pickle, pickled ginger); the Arita (salmon, albacore, New Zealand tai sea bream, tilefish, egg omelet, cucumber, takuan pickle, pickled ginger); and the Imari (salmon, albacore, New Zealand tai sea bream, tilefish, uni, egg omelet, cucumber, takuan pick, pickled ginger, rakkyo, umeboshi).

Be sure to indulge in a truly authentic Japanese culinary experience at Imari beginning this Friday.
