Tacos 1986, the popular Mexican restaurant with sites throughout Los Angeles County, is getting ready to open a new location in Northridge at 9039 Lindley Ave.

The company’s eighth location will move into the former home of Cupid’s Hot Dogs, which closed its doors last year after a 59-year run. Tacos 1986 will move into the space later this year. Owner Victor Manuel Delgado III tells What Now Los Angeles that this location is expected to open in late March or early April 2025. It will offer the same authentic Mexican food, including tacos, quesadillas, and mulitas, and excellent customer service found at the other sites.

This is a significant achievement for the company, led by Delgado and Joey Alvarez. Tacos 1986 began as a food cart in 2018, selling Tijuana-style tacos. Since then, the company has expanded to include brick-and-mortar locations throughout Los Angeles, including Santa Monica, Pasadena, Downtown, Westwood Village, and more. The business not only survived the pandemic but continues to open new locations. When the new Northridge location opens in a few weeks, customers can look forward to the same fresh and affordable culinary delights from their home state across the border.

Tacos 1986 offers a simplistic menu of traditional Mexican street food. Tacos are priced at $3.50 and include various savory fillings. Quesadillas, which combine melted cheese and fresh ingredients in warm tortillas, are available for $4.50. The mulitas are a perfect choice for a unique twist on both at $4.75. The restaurant also offers a variety of breakfast options, a new feature for Tacos 1986. Customers are encouraged to enjoy this delicious food in person, and it is also available for delivery and catering services for special events.
