Mac Tabby Cat Cafe, Charlotte’s first cat cafe, is preparing to open a new location in Salisbury at 103 S. Main St.
The company’s third location will move into the former home of Griffin’s Guitars, between Pottery 101 and Fine Frame Gallery. Owner Lori Konawalik hopes to open this new site sometime early next year, according to the company’s Instagram. When the family-friendly cafe opens, it will offer a unique experience, where half the space is a welcoming cafe, while the other half of the area is a lounge filled with adoptable cats from Princeton’s Meow Rescue Twelve.
Konawalik opened North Carolina’s second cat cafe in 2017 from Optimist Park before moving to NoDa and opening a second location in Concord. Since opening six years ago, Mac Tabby Cat Cafe has helped adopt over a thousand cats. While reservations are available, anyone above seven can visit the cafe and cat lounge. Guests are encouraged to get a drink and mingle with the cats in hopes of finding one to bring home, although adoptions are not necessary to visit. The cafe offers coffee, craft beer, wine, and other treats. Reservations are recommended during the holidays and weekends.

Appreciating and preserving history while embracing what’s to come is just the kind of energy we like to be a part of.”
