Yemeni coffee chain Qahwah House is planning to open a location in Plaza Midwood at 1318 Pecan Ave in October.

It is taking over the space that used to belong to the indoor miniature golf course Stroke.

The chain started in 2017 as a family business centered in Dearborn, Michigan. The goal of the brand is to serve Yemeni-style coffee with no artificial additives or preservatives. The coffee is imported from Yemen and roasted in-house at Qahwah House locations.

The menu offers items like coffee and tea beverages as well as Turkish coffee and fruit refreshers. There will also be Yemeni-style pastries such as Sabaya, a layered bread cake, according to Axios Charlotte.

Franchise owner Sulaiman Abidu, who is originally from Yemen and previously lived in Fayetteville, told Axios that he hopes the spot will be a good late-night alternative to bars and alcohol-centered spots. It will be open until 1 a.m. on weekdays and 2 a.m. on weekends.

The brand currently has locations in Ohio, Texas, New Jersey, New York and Illinois. Now, the Qahwah House brand is expanding into new markets across the country, including Washington, D.C.

Abidu hopes to expand to more locations throughout the North Carolina market following the opening of this location.

The spot in Plaza Midwood is expected to open on Oct. 10.
