Whataburger has purchased a lot in Kernersville at 1152 Solomon Drive, with plans to build another Whataburger in the Triad region.

The company has yet to file plans for this location, according to the Triad Business Journal.

The new purchase comes only months after the company submitted site plans for a location in High Point, which the company filed paperwork for in April.

Whataburger has been slowly setting down roots in the region since 2021, when the company created an LLC in the state of North Carolina, presumably to open corporate-owned locations.

This purchase comes in the wake of a flurry of announcements from Whataburger regarding the North Carolina market in the past couple years. In April, What Now Charlotte reported that three sites were in the works in Charlotte, and two in Greensboro and one in Fayetteville are also planned. Locations are also expected to head to the Raleigh area. Overall, there appears to be more than 13 locations in the works throughout the Carolinas.

Locations are expected to begin opening in North Carolina in 2025.

The burger chain, which was founded in Texas in 1950, has more than 1,000 locations across 16 states, with most locations still owned by the company. Its American fast-casual menu features burgers, sandwiches and salads.
