Red Hot & Blue is slated to open this fall at 1326 E. Millbrook Road in Raleigh’s Quail Corners Shopping Center.

The spot used to be an auto shop and was set to undergo extensive renovations, according to an article in the Triangle Business Journal.

Red Hot & Blue had a presence in the Triangle until its North Raleigh location closed in 2022. The new location will be 2,000 square feet with outdoor patio space for additional seating and areas where customers can enjoy outdoor activities, like cornhole, soccer beer pong and a small football field. The spot will also have live music.

In total, the restaurant will seat about 80-100 people.

Red Hot & Blue was first launched by Don Sundquist, the late governor of Tennessee, in 1988 in Arlington, Virginia. However, AJB Capital, a Wake Forest-based investment group, purchased the Memphis-style barbecue chain in 2018.

The chain currently has five locations across Maryland, Texas, Virginia and North Carolina. The other North Carolina location is in Morrisville.

Further expansion is on the horizon for the barbecue chain. AJB Capital is planning to open another six North Carolina locations in the next three years, according to the Business Journal.

Red Hot & Blue serves items like St. Louis-style ribs, Texas brisket and Memphis-style BBQ sandwiches. It also serves wings, salads, catfish fingers, pulled pork sandwiches and burgers.
