Viva Barista Cafe is heading to Walkertown at 3085 Old Hollow Road, according to permits filed with Winston-Salem. The spot will be a coffee shop and roastery.
Ricardo Hidalgo and his high school-aged son of the same name are opening the spot. They plan to focus on specialty coffee, according to the Kernersville News. The team told Kernersville News that they hope to contribute to the growing specialty coffee scene in the area and build a community around coffee. Hidalgo was inspired by his roots in El Salvador, where specialty coffee is part of the cultural scene.
The space clocks in at just over 1,000 square feet. The cafe is expected to serve handcrafted espresso drinks.
Initially, the team was hoping to open the spot during the summer. However, based on permit filings, it appears that the cafe is currently in the renovation process. Both its Facebook and Instagram pages advertise the location as “coming soon.”
