Krazy Curry is expanding to uptown, securing a space at the One South tower at 101 N. Tryon St. The spot, which is more than 3,000 square feet, formerly housed Salsarita’s Fresh Mexican Grill.

Owner Sabash Karki currently operates one location in Pineville. The spot serves Indian and Nepali flavors, with menu items such as pakoras, curries, freshly baked naan, biryanis and meat dishes such as chicken and lamb.

Karki told What Now Charlotte that they used to have a South End location that focused on takeout. It has since closed, but he wanted to find a location in uptown that would allow them to interact with customers in a sit-down format. The location at One South was a good size, so Karki took the lease.

The spot will serve a lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and serve an a la carte menu later in the day.

“One of the main reasons we are looking to expand the business is to get people more familiar with Indian food,” Karki said. “When someone goes to a burger place, they already know what the food is like. With another location, we hope to get people more familiar with the food. I want people to think it’s common and [to try it].”

With more construction still to come on the space, Karki is aiming to open the new location by the end of January.
