As Miami-based The Salty Donut expands into new markets, the sweets shop has signed a lease for 2,572 square feet at mixed-use development Fenton in Cary.

The spot is expected to open in late 2025, according to the Triangle Business Journal.

The Salty Donut has locations in or heading to Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, Colorado, Virginia, Florida and Washington, D.C. In North Carolina, there is currently one location open in Charlotte and another on the way to Ballantyne, as previously reported by What Now Charlotte.

Couple Amanda Pizarro and Andy Rodriguez launched The Salty Donut brand in 2014. The menu features doughnut flavors ranging from classic glazed to unique flavors like whipped lemon ricotta bomboloni and brown butter and salt.

“At ‘The Salty’, we believe in the transformative power of a really freakin’ good donut, baked goods and a perfectly crafted coffee,” The Salty website states. “We strive to tell stories through our ever-changing menus of new flavors and weave ourselves into the fabric of the neighborhoods we’re in to create spaces for the community to gather and positively impact those around us. Simply put, we like to make people feel good.”

What Now Charlotte reached out to Rodriguez for comment but did not receive one by the time of publication.
