A major coffee chain known for its blended beverages and energy drinks is venturing into the Charlotte market.

Dutch Bros Coffee has submitted sketch plans for redevelopment of a property in east Charlotte at 5637 Albemarle Road, according to reporting by the Charlotte Observer.

The space was formerly home to a drive-thru Wells Fargo, which closed down earlier this year.

The company told the Charlotte Observer that they are in “very early stages” of development in the market. What Now Charlotte reached out to Dutch Bros representatives but did not receive further comment prior to publication.

Dutch Bros launched in 1992 in Grants Pass, Oregon. It has been spreading east since then. The drive-thru coffee chain had 950 locations across 18 states as of Sept. 30, according to investor reports. Many of the locations are on the West Coast. Currently, there are no locations for the chain in North Carolina.

The chain has major expansion plans in the works across the country, announcing earlier this year that it is aiming for 4,000 stores and has plans to move up the East Coast next.
