Panda Express, one of the most popular Asian fast-food chains in the country, is working on a new location in Regency Park at 9370 Atlantic Blvd.

The company’s newest location looks to move into the former home of Pollo Tropical, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. JEA issued a service availability letter on Nov. 29 for a 3,858-square-foot quick-service single-story restaurant and drive-thru. It’s unclear if Panda Express will renovate the space or build a new restaurant. Either way, the restaurant will see great success in sitting between the Regency Park Shopping Center and Regency Court Shopping Mall.

Founded in 1983, the California-based company is one of the largest family-owned Asian dining concepts in America, with more than 2,3000 locations, including 118 in Florida. Upon its 40th anniversary, the company is ranked as the 14th-biggest quick-service chain in America in terms of U.S. sales, according to the QSR 50. After four decades, the company has no plans of slowing down, and plans to continue to change the menu to keep customers interesteted.

“As we look toward the future, we’re looking to add a variety of innovative flavors and elevating classic comfort foods to our menu,” Evelyn Wah, vice president of brand innovation and menu strategy, tells QSR. “Our most recent launch, Apple Pie Roll, is our first American Chinese dessert. It is a sweet and fun American Chinese creation you can only find at Panda Express and features a combination of juicy apples, fall spices, like a classic American apple pie, and wrapped in a crispy and flaky wonton wrapper, like a quintessential Chinese egg roll.”
