A beloved Mexican restaurant is planning a nearby expansion.

According to a licensing board hearing page, Taquería Jalisco is in the process of securing a liquor license for a second location at 980 Saratoga St in East Boston, formerly home to Donna’s.

Owner Ramiro Gonzalez confirmed these plans with What Now Boston, noting that renovations are currently underway at the larger Orient Heights space. He expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to serve alcohol at the new location, a feature not available at his original spot.

In addition to alcohol, the upcoming Taquería Jalisco will offer a more immersive dining experience for patrons. Expect a variety of exciting menu additions, including tacos al pastor, handcrafted tortillas, and freshly made churros prepared by skilled chefs right in front of customers.

Fans of the original restaurant can also anticipate traditional Mexican favorites like burritos, tortas, huevos rancheros, and pozole.

The new Taquería Jalisco is scheduled to debut next month, in mid to late August 2024.
