Exciting changes may be on the horizon for a local Southern eatery.

According to a report from Universal Hub, the owners of Down Home Delivery & Catering in Dorchester’s Four Corners have submitted plans to replace the existing eatery at 2 Bowdoin St with a seven-story apartment complex. This new development would include 2,400 square feet of ground-floor space for the restaurant to move back into.

Founded in 2009 by southerners and husband-and-wife duo Gary Webster and Gale Scott, Down Home offers a full breakfast and dinner service. The menu features authentic Southern dishes such as barbecue, mac and cheese, lasagna, oxtails, and candied yams. According to the eatery’s website, the “mouthwatering homemade delicacies… make you feel like you’re ‘home.’”

The proposed building would feature 22 residential units: five one-bedroom apartments, ten one-bedroom units with dens, and seven two-bedroom units. It would also include a roof deck but no dedicated parking.

It’s unclear how long construction would take or how long Down Home Delivery & Catering would be closed if the plans are approved, as the owners did not respond to What Now Boston’s requests for comment.
