An authentic Mexican eatery in Wakefield is gearing up to launch a second location.

Plazita Mexico Tacos will soon open at 385 Main St in Watertown, taking over the former Spot Cafe space.

Miguel Anguel Sánchez Galeana, who owns the restaurant with his wife, Caroline Stockbridge, announced the news on social media, exclaiming, “Plazita Mexico Tacos IS COMING TO WATERTOWN!!!!! … We can’t wait to meet everyone!!”

Stockbridge told What Now Boston that the Watertown location will offer the same beloved menu as the original Wakefield eatery, including their signature house-made, hand-pressed tortillas and red and green salsas.

Guests can look forward to a variety of tender meats like al pastor, lengua, cabeza, chicken, carnitas, and carne asada, alongside best-selling birria tacos and birria ramen. Stockbridge added that customer favorites such as flan, arroz con leche, churros, burritos, tortas, quesadillas, and taquitos dorados will also be available.

“Check the Google reviews for some comments about how authentic it is!” she urged.

Plazita Mexico Tacos is tentatively set to open in early December 2024. Expected hours of operation are Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with an extra hour each evening for online orders.
