Located at 1287 First Street, Bijou Garden Cafe has been serving up “fine dining with an intimate and inviting ambiance in the heart of Sarasota’s theatre and arts district since 1986.” Since 1986, Bijou has undergone several major changes, including being acquired by The Realm Restaurant Group, the hospitality company behind Sarasota’s Sage restaurant, headed up by Sharon Carole.

More changes are in the offing as the restaurant prepares to close its doors at the end of this month for renovations. According to a recent post by Restaurants in Sarasota, Bijou Garden Cafe is expected to reopen in the fall.

“According to permits on file with the City of Sarasota, approximately 750 square feet of new dining area will be added,” says the Restaurants in Sarasota post.

The restaurant’s main courses include dishes like Filet Mignon with Tomato Demi-Glace, Roasted Carrots and Rosemary Potatoes; Roasted Half Duck with Cherry Coffee Reduction and Warm Cinnamon Apple Farro Salad; and House Made Pappardelle Pasta with Wild Mushrooms and Braised Short Rib. Be sure to visit soon before doors close later this month!

What Now reached out to Sharon Carole on Wednesday to ask about Bijou’s renovation plans. Carole declined to make any immediate comment on the news.
