A new pickleball venue is opening in Largo in late winter/early spring! Called Pickle & Pint, it will feature twelve indoor pickleball courts (plus other paddle games like ping pong), small eats, and a bar serving beer and wine.

“My husband just started playing [pickleball] a few years ago, and he loves it,” Sarah Weir, who is launching Pickle & Pint together with Zachary Weir, told What Now on Tuesday. “But he said, ‘I wish there was an indoor place to play, because it’s so hot all the time.’ We talked about how cool it would be to have an indoor place with a bar, and finally we said, all right, yes, this is a good idea.”

Once they were both on board, the next question was the location. What the Weir’s found was a former warehouse on South Belcher Road at the Ulmerton Road intersection. It’s a 32,000-square-foot space that—in addition to 12 pickleball courts—will feature a beer and wine bar, a lounge area where guests can also have a cup of coffee and get some work done, and two rentable event spaces.

“And in Largo, it’s very centrally located,” Weir said. “Right in the middle between Clearwater, St. Pete, and Tampa; a twenty-minute drive from all three cities.”

And that’s not all that’s in store for Largo this spring! On West Bay Drive, between 14th Street and Howard Drive Northwest, Spring Hill-based Jamaican restaurant brand Reggae Jamaican Grill is opening a second location.

What Now confirmed the news on Tuesday with Della, co-owner of the Largo location. Della said the restaurant is expected to open in March and it will serve the same menu offered in Spring Hill.

The menu features entrees like the Oxtail meal, the Curry Goat Meal, and the Jerk Pork Meal; vegetarian choices like Curry Tofu and Veggie Bean Soup; and Jamaican patties in varieties like Chicken, Veggie, and Beef.

The opening date is still tentative, however, Della said. “There are still so many factors to work on.”

Submitted plan review documents show the new Reggae Jamaican Grill opening at 1280 W Bay Drive.
