The first phase of RUSH bar will open late September giving guests access to the first level of the building, spanning 1,900 square feet.

A new queer bar called RUSH will open in September at 1923 9th St. NW, featuring a relaxing lounge and spaces for dancing and drag shows.

The two-phase project, which features an open floor plan and high ceilings, is owned by Jackson Mosley, the CEO of an online brand-building company called Momentux, and his team.

Mosley told What Now DC that the first phase of the bar will open in late September giving guests access to the first level of the building which spans 1,900 square feet.

“When we were coming up with the idea of RUSH, we knew that we wanted to make it unique. I saw the location I knew this was a space to stay and that I would set it up with ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows just in a perfect location,” Mosley said.

The lower and upper levels of the bar will open as part of the second phase after construction works are completed in 2024, according to Mosley.

The upper level will be an upscale bar lounge, while the lower level will be a venue dedicated to dancing and hosting performances. RUSH will also have outdoor and patio areas and a food menu that includes more than regular snack bars.

RUSH is expected to take up to 188 guests and it will also feature a sidewalk Cafe with a total capacity of 22 people, according to a liquor license that was filed earlier in July.
