Detroit is set for a delicious 2024 once the warm weather returns as Black-owned local ice cream brand Ice Cream Detroit plans for its first brick-and-mortar location at 3762 Second Ave. The new establishment is anticipated to open in the late spring or early summer of 2024.

Ice Cream Detroit is Detroit’s first and only liquor-infused frozen dessert company. Ysahai Honor-Marie, Owner and Confectioner, infuses handcrafted ice cream or sorbet with beer, wine, and a variety of liquors. Up till now, Ice Cream Detroit has been going around as a pop-up concept called Virgin Ice Cream Bar in the Jefferson Chalmers Neighborhood, offering the company’s handcrafted ice creams. However, the new brick-and-mortar location will carry the brand’s famous liquor-infused ice creams and sorbets on top of their regular menu.

Founded by Calvin Gee and owned by entrepreneur confectioner Honor-Marie, Ice Cream Detroit is all about small-batch ice cream and the community. The new location will feature a large mural created by Detroit-based muralist and artrepreneur Allison Sims, indoor seating, and a takeout window.

Those interested in joining Ice Cream Detroit for its grand opening can sign up for updates on their website. Meanwhile, the company is also considering future chef collaborations to provide five-to-six-course dinners paired with handcrafted ice cream and sorbet where all proceeds will benefit a chosen local charity.

By the time of this coverage, Honor-Marie hadn’t replied to What Now Detroit‘s request for comments.
