A mobile tea and coffee business is about to take a big step forward.

Pittador Brews Specialty Teas & Coffees will soon open its first physical storefront in Old Sacramento’s historic Heywood’s Building at 1001 Second St. The 750-square-foot café will be nestled between a wine lounge and a bike shop, offering a cozy spot for locals to enjoy their favorite brews.

Owners Liliette and Stephen Freeman will use the $20,000 prize they recently earned as winners of the Calling All Dreamers brick-and-mortar business incubator program to help bring their vision to life.

Over the past five years, the Freemans have served their specialty drinks at local festivals and farmers’ markets, offering premium, globally sourced tea and coffee. Now, they’re creating a space where guests can sit and savor their drinks or take them to go.

Named after the couple’s beloved pets, Pittador Brews will be a dog-friendly haven, complete with treats and pet-themed merchandise. The Freemans are even exploring a partnership with Front Street Animal Shelter to showcase adoptable dogs, according to Sacramento Business Journal.

In addition to their signature coffee and tea, the Freemans are considering introducing house-brewed beer and mead (honey wine) within the next couple of years.

Pittador Brews is slated to launch in June 2025, but fans don’t have to wait that long to get their caffeine fix. Catch the Freemans at their upcoming pop-ups: March 14-16 at the Sacramento Home & Garden Show and at the Elk Grove Cherry Blossom Festival on March 29.
